The Google Pixel 10 series is set to launch soon. The Google Pixel 9 series was unveiled in August 2024, so it’s fair to assume that Google will unveil its next-generation Pixel lineup soon. The most expensive phone in last year’s lineup was the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, a book-style foldable with an immersive inner display. Now, a leak has surfaced from Android Headlines that hints that its successor, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, will come with improved durability and a better in-hand feel.
Google Pixel 10 Pro IP68 rating details
Android Headlines suggests that the upcoming Google Pixel 10 Pro may feature an IP68 rating for dust and water protection. If it does indeed carry IP68, it will be the first foldable with such a high standard of durability, as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are IP48, while the Oppo Find N5 has IPX8 and IPX9 ratings.
To give a perspective, the first number in the IP (Ingress Protection) rating refers to the durability of the device against dust. ‘6’ means it is completely dust-proof. The second number in the IP rating refers to water resistance, with the highest being ‘9’. The number ‘8’ means it can be immersed in water (usually up to 1-3 metres for about 30 minutes).
With the Pixel 10 Pro Fold being IP68, it will be able to withstand more dust particles, especially if you are traveling to places with a higher density of dust or sand, compared to other Folders with lower IP ratings.
However, it is rumoured that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 may also have an IP68 rating. It will launch on July 9 alongside other Samsung products.

Google Pixel 10 Pro may get an improved hinge
- In March, Android Headlines shared high-quality renders of the Google Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. While the design of the foldable appeared quite similar to its previous model, the hinge is said to have been redesigned.
- The hinge on the Google Pixel 10 Pro could be thinner, making the overall device thinner and more comfortable to use for long periods.
- A thinner hinge could also mean a less noticeable inner-display crease, which would improve the viewing experience at certain angles.
Google Pixel 10 Pro expected launch date
- Another exclusive report from Android Headlines suggests that the Google Pixel 10 lineup is set to release on August 20, 2025.
- These devices could go on sale starting August 28, at least in the US.
- Along with the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the Google Pixel Watch 4 could also be announced during the event.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could feature a 6.4-inch cover display, an upgrade from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s 6.3-inch display, and the Tensor G5 that’s built on TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process for increased power and efficiency.
